A New Mindset About Multi-Level Marketing – Hope Is in the Numbers

Hope Is in the Numbers - DIY Marketing Guy

I want to help expand your mind a little about network marketing today. It is based on an idea I had the first day I was introduced to my current MLM business.

When I was invited to a "class" to learn about the products, it was no surprise, I already knew it was an MLM business. I had no intention of "joining" but just wanted to go to honor my friend who invited me.

As I saw everyone getting excited about the products, I was interested in the numbers. I was already in the process of building another business but the business structure appealed to me.

I was already familiar with network marketing being with a company way back in the 90s. It was very different back then. Today we have the internet and social media. Things are MUCH easier now than they were then.

I figured, "I can do this." But my plan was not to just poke at it with a stick to see what happens. My goal was to build quickly using the current methods and tools I was given. I mean, how hard could it be to read a script?

I needed to get 100 people to spend $100 per month.

But let me explain how I saw the multi-level marketing business. I didn't even see the products. I only saw the numbers. In my mind it was rather simple. I needed to get 100 people to spend $100 per month. That's it. That's as simple as it can be.

But when I received my "starter kit" I was introduced to the products. After getting some relief from years of common health issues, I learned that the business was not about the numbers but about the products. So, I forgot about the numbers and focused solely on the products.

But here I've come full circle. It is awesome that we have great products that I use every day. That is a key fundamental to business success. But I couldn't forsake the numbers. Because it is the numbers that are changing my mindset. It is the numbers that give me hope. It is the numbers that help me see that I can honestly, with a gentle spirit, have compassion for everyone in my downline.

You see, when I enrolled my friend who has been a missionary for almost 20 years, it was not to grow MY business. It was purposefully to support HIS ministry.

I could donate the money to him. Although I'd rather create an entity that supports all of his financial needs. This part is so often misunderstood about this profession.

We need honesty and integrity.

I'll admit that network marketers have been given a bad rap for things I've actually done myself. I've explained that in other blog posts. I believe we need to get our hearts in the right place to be successful in this business. We need honesty and integrity. They are the building blocks to this profession whether you believe it or not.

Back to the numbers... with the programs I promote here as the DIY Marketing Guy, we talk about massive growth. With massive growth we can build deep, profitable legs. Those legs create residual income.

Before I was introduced to Attraction Marketing as described in the Free 10 Day Recruiting Bootcamp, I told my friend to stop ordering products. It had become a financial burden for him. He was buying products to help his parent's health needs. I told him that I wanted to help him get his products for free and I would do whatever I could to help. And he could order if he wanted to, but my goal was to ease the financial burden.

I don't look at people for what they can do for me but for what I can do for them.

Now that is a totally new mindset. I don't look at people for what they can do for me but for what I can do for them.

Oftentimes, I just stare at my virtual office. I look at my downline intently. I wonder where I can strategically place new members to help my downline reach new ranks. I want everyone to prosper.

With the tools that I found, I can see explosive growth and it excites me. New members are not just tire kickers but are seasoned network marketing professionals who mean business.

Although there are no official "monthly obligations", I explain to these business builders that a product purchase of $100 per month is the minimum needed to earn a bonus check (with my company). These are purchases of products that we all use daily. It is not something you don't need or don't use. That makes sense.

You have 100 people purchasing $100 worth of products just as I had envisioned. All of those 100 people are earning bonuses, earning reward points, and earning free monthly promos.

But it doesn't stop there. Because people are earning $100, $200, $300 while still spending only $100.

Let me ask you this question, "Would you spend $100 on products that you need knowing you'd be receiving a $100 check?"

Your answer would be, "Sure, I'm getting everything for free." But what about when your check increases to $200, $300 or $500? At $500, you can put $400 in the bank or cover any living expenses.

Would you spend $100 to receive a $500 check?

Would you spend $100 to receive a $500 check? Of course you would!

But let's say you just joined and you look at your group volume and it looks like your check is only going to be about $50. Should you spend the $100 to get a $50 check? That is the same as getting 50% off. You are spending $50 for $100 worth of products. The choice is up to you. If you don't want to, don't. Does it make economic sense? Only you can make that decision. I told my friend NOT to spend the money until I had a chance to learn this system to help grow his downline and grow his bonus checks.

I got into this business to make money. And for the people who want to build a business, my goal is to help them make money too. As the late Zig Ziglar said, "The more you help people get what they want, the more you will get what you want."
